Lockdown life and staying sane
It's a Monday at the end of March 2020. Right now, if the world weren't on fire, I would be sat in an office in London, sending emails and writing news stories.
Instead, I'm at home in the north of England, sending emails and writing news stories from the comfort, or lack thereof, of my childhood bedroom. I bought a monitor, brought an old desk and chair into my room and developed a strong will not to even lay on my bed for fear of a nap.
Working from home isn't an issue for me. The issue right now is the uncertainty - when should I apply for jobs? Will I even graduate on time? How long am I going to be self-exiled from London?
Working on my portfolio, designing a product presentation and writing my dissertation are the things keeping me sane right now. My dad is writing a diary, my friend is recording 'quarantine' vlogs and others are non-stop playing Sims 4.
It's a strange life right now. Today was my first day leaving the house in a week, all to go shopping for toiletries and food, and I didn't like outside as much as inside. It's all too quiet.
I just wanted to document this moment. Quarantine and lockdown is the best thing for the entire world right now, I just hate that I don't know when it'll end.
